This College has a required course in Patriotism
The College of the Ozarks, has a required course for freshmen called Patriotic Education and Fitness.
Jerry Davis, the Missouri college’s president, told Inside Higher Education that the course is designed to combat what he sees as rising anti-American, antipatriotic sentiments in American culture that have been “bubbling for many years.”
IHE reports that “The college held a media day for local outlets in Point Lookout, Mo., Monday to show off the new four-credit course, which was piloted both semesters last year and debuted in earnest as a requirement for freshmen this semester. At the media day, a formation of students marched through campus and stood at attention as Davis addressed them.”

JFK files will be released by Trump on Thursday
President Trump said Wednesday that his administration will release the classified documents on John F. Kennedy’s assassination on Thursday, the deadline Congress gave for the files to be released.
CNN reports, “Trump still hasn’t made clear whether he’ll allow the full release of the documents or block certain files from publication, which he can do if he believes making them public could pose harm to US intelligence, law enforcement, the military or US foreign relations.”
Some in the intelligence community have urged him not to release some of the documents, however historians do not believe any bombshells will be will be dropped.

THere’s a bad DOg poop pRoblem in Lebanon
In a distinctly smelly story in the New York Times this week, reporter Anne Barnard examines the situation in Lebanon, where there are plenty of dogs — and with dogs comes dog poop — but very few people who are willing to pick it up.
Beruit resident Jad Nawfal told Barnard, “‘To Lebanese people,’ he said, wrinkling his nose, ‘it’s kind of embarrassing to pick up poop.’
How about picking their way past dog feces on the streets?
If it is not on their personal property, he said, ‘They just don’t care.’”

GRAMBLING STATE KILLER STILL ON THE LOOSE
Two men were fatally shot on the campus of Grambling State University in Louisiana early Wednesday morning and the shooter has yet to be found.
“Grambling State University Director of University Communications Will Sutton said the victims were Earl Andrews, a senior at GSU, and Monquiarious Caldwell, who was not a student. Both men were 23 years old and from Farmerville, Louisiana,” according to a report from ABC News.
The Washington Post reports that the murders have “shaken the campus, a small community of 5,188 mostly black students, where the loss of a student is ‘truly a loss of a member of a family,’ said Richard J. Gallot Jr., the university’s president. The shooting occurred during Homecoming Week, when the school, in the city of Grambling, sees a spike in visitors.”
Thursday, here we come.
